Napster's taking on iTunes

7-day Free trial of Napster
Looks like you'll have choice on where to get your downlo's of your music fav's!
Napster has started selling per song downloads in it's Napster music store, as of yesterday they have added even more choice to iPod and MP3 users everywhere. DRM (Digital Rights Management) Free and useable on any portable media device, Napster hopes to lure some iTunes customers over to their non-copyrighted music selection. With Amazon.com starting to sell MP3's in it's store and Napster on-board, will iTunes continue to dominate? I'm sure that if you own a MP3 player that isn't an iPod, you'll most likely be moving to the DRM free environments. Once you pay for the song, the digital file is yours, you can back it up, use it on any device, not so with iTunes DRM content.

It's not expected that many iTunes users will jump ship to Amazon or Napster, iTunes is integrated with the iPod and iPhone.

Napsters market appeal will be to the audio file that likes to rip a MP3 DVD for a home theater experiance, or a non-ipod device like a Blackberry Curve, or the new BB Bold series 9000.

Napsters Subscription Services, which allows you unlimited access to music content to enjoy, is still a DRM environment and not to be confused with the new Digital Music Store. Now if you just love a song you can buy it and use it else where.

Napster MP3s will be priced at 99 cents each, while full-album downloads will start at $9.95 US, the company said.

Apple's new Ad! Like it or Hate it!

Like it or Hate it? Well it's airing now.
I'm not a big fan of this ad. Maybe it's a bit too much disco colored funk, with all the muted saturated colors. Nah, I don't like the song, it's all bad!
[update] I keep watching trying to like this ad! I know it's my opinion. Everyone has personal tastes, it's just The Ting Tings -"Shut up and let me go!" is a bad rip off. It sounds like a Strokes - Franz Ferdinand wanna be rip off! I like the style of music, but not this song. The dancing also isn't dancing, it's a bunch of people jumping around like monkeys. I've always loved the iTunes ads before. What happened! I'm not being anti-mac, cause I laughed my butt off with the new PC-YOGA-MAC ad.

iTunes Unlimited - Why not?

Who cares about eMusic, really!

iTunes needs to do something! The biggest issue with online downloading is the pricing that is eating at every single music and movie lovers back pocket. iTunes doesn't need to go to a subscription or unlimited plan. eMusics threat that a law suit is appearant is a laugh. iTunes could bundle a gift card to itunes with each new purchase, slash prices to downloads and work with music and movie companies to reduce prices.

The way iTunes,Amazon,Netflix and Zip prices are going, they are probably losing more money to online file sharing than price cutting would cost them.

Let's see a little online file downloading price war! It's about time.

Gen X+Y=Z... What's a CD? - iTunes catching Walmart

Apple Store
Most of the kids these days don't even remember the Sony Walkman Sport, when the waterproof cassette player and its yellow sports headphones was the cool thing to own. Most of them don't know what is was like to carry around a portable CD player and endure it skipping over and over as you walked. Now it seems that most of them don't know that music comes on CD's and that you can buy it from a music store. Well, that last statement isn't completely true, it seems that Walmart still leads at the #1 spot for music sales, and right behind them is iTunes.
Apple Online Store

Eventually as MP3, WMV and MPA playing devices invade the home and the Wifi networks communicate with more and more entertainment equipment, CD's will go the way of the Cassette and the DoDo Birds before them. iTunes and other online music retailers will pass Walmart in music sales. The future is so digital it’s scary.

iTune up that special someones xmas.

Apple Online Store

Stuff the Stocking of that special someone's Inbox

Give the gift that keeps giving! Giving someone an iTunes gift certificate as a christmas gift, is a fantastic idea. The person receiving the gift card can get the music they are looking for and you don't need to figure out what music taste they have.

You can give someone as little as $10 by e-mail or an actual gift card of $15 by post mail.

If you choose to send the gift by e-mail you can set the day of delivery to Dec 25th to make sure that the person you're thinking of doesn't get it early. It's up to you. Spread a little christmas cheer, or get it for the have-it-all sibling, that you really don't have a clue what to give.
