The new iPod Touch - YAWN

Apple Store
Ok, the iPod Touch is a great little PMP and has a bunch of bonuses. For people who don't own one, or an iPhone. The updated iPod Touch's new features are a bonus. The fact is, they slapped on the shinney backing the old iPhone used, they added some volume controls to the side, and updated the firmware and software to enable the new software services, like the game apps and other software found in the iTunes app library. So if you already own one, you probably are not running out to grab the updated model. If you don't have one, the iPod Touches new release gives you the same solid cool PMP only apple could provide you.

Now the other updates include case, color and software updates to almost all the older generation iPods and nanos.

iStick, Now you could stick your iPod on your arse if you wanted.

iStick it! i don't digg it, not for $25+ for a iPod holder. I'm not a fan of the iPod armbands, unless your doing some sort of sport, then you shouldn't be sporting this or the arm band holder. If you have been one of those people looking for a great way to stick that iPod to the other side of the shower door than maybe it's worth a look. Over-all iStick not. http://www.goistik.com/

DLO updates line to include an HD Homedoc, iPhone or iTouch Support.

So your a Home Theater Enthusiast, you are chomping at the bit to get an upscaling home theater doc for your iphone or your ipod touch. Looks like the wait is over. The new HD Doc scales 720p or 1080i accross the HDMI connection for those that have a compatible device. source:www.dlo.com/homedockpro, now it states it supports, iPod iTouch, iPhone testing need to be confirmed.

Connecting your iPod,iPhone and iTouch to your TV

iFood for thought.

It's simple enough to connect your iPod and iPhone to your TV. Using the Component AV Cable, available at the Apple Store, all you have to do is connect it to an available video source. Then you are showing off your photos and video collection. Now wouldn't it be amazing if they created a wireless AV dock for your iPhone. You could then be surfing the net with your TV and using the iPhone or iPod Touch as the controller.

One iPod Dock too many – How do I choose?

Currently the Apple Store boasts an amazing 42 different iPod Docks and external speakers. It’s a drop in the bucket to an astounding number of iPod docks available on the market today. Your choices are even more numerous. From clock radios, to wireless doc hubs that connect your home AV systems, to portable iPod attached handheld speakers, or plain old headphone-jack desk speakers.

Things to remember:
- Not all docks are compatible with each model type of iPod.
- Not all docks are created equal. If you purchase a docking system, remember it can be returned during the return and exchange policy period at most retailers. So use it, return it or exchange it, if it doesn’t meet your expectations.

Our Top Picks.

Alarm Clock Dock - The iHome iH9B6 Clock Radio is a fantastic choice for a bed side alarm clock dock, and with decent reviews.

Speaker Dock - Bose® SoundDock® Portable Digital Music System, is a little on the pricey side, but far and away the best sound performance in a docking speaker system.

Handheld Portable – The Creative TravelSound i80 Speaker for iPod nano is great for the day at the beach. You can get your beach boogie on with this. It’s not extremely loud and boasts a 15 hour charge time.

You’re iPod will self destruct in 720 days!

So why is it the iPod has a usage life of around 2 years, and why do so many try to blame Apple about using iTunes to terminate the unit at approx. a 2 year mark. Kid yourself all you want.

These units are made to last, just not forever!

An electronic device is still an electronic device, with real moving parts the iPods life is longer than you could really expect. Think to yourself, how long does you cell phone last, before you get crappy reception?

Now what are some major reasons these units fail. Well they are mobile, get thrown around in bags, jackets in the back seats of your car. Static charges from you’re body zap the tiny electrical components on a continual basis. What about that rechargeable battery, its drained and charged. Re-drained and then half charged. Runs the unit, as its little battery strains to run the electrical components and charge it’s self again and again.

If the iPod wasn’t such an addiction maybe more people would turn to picking up the Blackberry Curve (8310, 8320, 8330) lets say. It plays video and Mp3’s, It’s a phone. It also has a hardware upgrade option at most carriers, so after a few years, when it starts to crap out. You get a new one with a major discount. Wouldn’t that be an amazing option to add to your iPod purchase? Did you know that for $59.00 US you can extend the hardware support from 1 year to 2 years? It also adds telephone support from 90 days to the full 2 year term.

It’s not a perfect solution, but it is a way to safe guard a unit that takes a lot of abuse, maybe not by you, but static forces and voltage monsters are at play here!

Scrabble your ipod!

iPod Games: Scrabble

It wasn't so long ago that the Facebook version of scrabble was hit with a law suit! I'm sure the reason over a Copyright Lawsuit was that the Electionic Arts probably paid nose and teeth to bring a Apple version of the famous tile and board game direct to your iPods everywhere!

Now you can play one of the most popular board games in history on your iPod. Fire up Scrabble and take on up to three human opponents or the computer, with three levels of difficulty available. A built-in dictionary acts as final arbitrator on all words, and if you find yourself stuck, you have four chances per game to ask the computer for the best word possible. As competitive player Stefan Fastis wrote in his book “Word Freak”: “The game is a carefully choreographed pas de deux, a delicate balance between risk and reward.”

Why should I buy a refurbished iPod

Apple Online Store

Should I.. Why would I

You are asking you’re self why should I buy a used iPod. Isn’t that the other name for refurbished? Why is the refurbished price so high? It’s used! A refurbished iPod isn’t fully used. It’s actually mostly new and the reason why the refurbished iPod is the price it is. Yes you save money picking one up this way.

Interesting!

Did you know that to fix a broken (SAD) iPod, the case is actually broken to remove it and a brand new one needs to be used.
Did you know that the biggest failure point on the iPod and any rechargeable device it the battery, which is replaced on refurbished models to ensure that the life of unit isn’t compromised.
Refurbished iPod Hard Drives or the devices memory is generally replace with new or fully tested and reloaded firmware.

And each refurbished iPod is shipped with brand new headset, to comply with health regulations.

Refurbished 4GB and 8GB iPod nano with video - starting at $129. Plus free shipping.

So really! You are buying an almost new refurbished iPod, that comes with a warranty and you save a few dollars in the process.

80 and want an iPod - It won't kill you.

Maybe it will if you're listening to it and fall over and hit the ground, and can't find you're emergency call button! "I've fallen and can't get up".. Or maybe you're jogging listening to you're iPod. At 80 .. that might kill you..

Ok seriously... "[ Washington Reuters News Service, 1 February 2008 ] - Portable media players such as iPods are unlikely to interfere with heart pacemakers, a US Food and Drug Administration researcher reported yesterday.

FDA researcher Howard Bassen and colleagues set up a complex experiment using a saline-filled bag to simulate the human body and a coil sensor designed to pick up electromagnetic emissions.
They measured the magnetic fields produced by four different iPod models: a fourth-generation iPod and an iPod with video, and an iPod nano and an iPod shuffle. They also measured the voltages delivered to the inside of the pacemaker by the magnetic fields from the iPods.

All their measurements indicated the iPods could not affect cardiac pacemakers, they reported in the journal BioMedical Engineering OnLine." Read more @ Itweb.

So maybe if you have you're iPod, iPhone turned on, hooked into your technology package upgrade in your new commuter car. You'd better make sure that you don't get near a coffee shop with a wifi hotspot.. you might not be safe. I know that they need to test this stuff, but it's still a little silly that somebody probably has a law suit against Apple, claiming that there iPod gave them a heart attack.

Ipod Classic, Get's strong backing!

Yes, an iPod is an iPod. The classic ipod, with it's 80GB and 160GB models get more or a backlift then a facelift.

A new Sleeker design.

Beautiful, durable, and sleeker than ever, iPod classic now features an anodized aluminum and polished stainless steel enclosure with rounded edges.

I know this feels more like a way that Apple can hawk it's engraving service on it's already popular line of ipods. Its still cool that you can now personalize the large capacity iPod. Maybe mine will say iPod Geek 08!

Probably not!
