I hear them! But the mouth is out of sync – AVI Conversion

This has to be the most annoying and frustrating part about converting video. It’s due to a few reasons and some can be corrected and some can’t. Video converting golden rule 1. The conversion is as only as good as its source. rule 2. Some codecs just should never be used.. not naming names.. but some are so LAME.

Going from “AVI to MP4” or “AVI to DVD”, you need to do a couple of checks if you run into a file that has audio problems.

1. Take a look at the video information for the avi file you are having issues.

FPS can be a major reason why you run into audio out-of-sync. During conversion there is a frame rate drop and in re-turn the video is off sync.

· Go to the file in explorer and right click it and choose properties.
· Go to the summary tab… and you might need to click advanced.

What you should see is the frame rate settings. Use that in your conversion program as the FPS (Frames per second).

2. If FPS isn’t the issue and the file plays correctly with your video player than you’ll need to a virtualdub program that re-records it with a constant frame rate and also records the audio again with a different audio codec. Virtual dubbers actually record the file as it’s playing, not digitally. This could fix the issue as well, allowing you to then digitally convert it to DVD or MP4.
